About WorldSnipe
WorldSnipe is an independent browser game. Each round shows a real 360° street-level photo; you look for clues and guess where it was taken. It works on phones, tablets and computers, with no download and no account required.
The current library contains 1,276 locations in 73 countries and territories, and it grows as more open imagery becomes available.
Where the photos come from
Every panorama is a real photo published on Wikimedia Commons under an open licence (mostly CC BY-SA 4.0), many of them originally captured by contributors to Mapillary. We show each photographer’s name, the licence and a link to the original file after every guess, and list contributors on the credits page. Photos are displayed as published; we do not modify them.
If you are a photographer and would like a photo removed from the game, or you spot something that should not be shown, please contact us and we will take it out.
Maps
The guessing map uses OpenFreeMap tiles built from OpenStreetMap data (© OpenStreetMap contributors, © OpenMapTiles). If the map service is unavailable, a simplified Natural Earth map is used instead.
Fair and honest
- Computer opponents are always labelled “CPU”. We never show fake players, fake counts or fake reviews.
- Scores are calculated on our server, so challenge results are the same for everyone.
- Ads, when shown, appear only between games — never while you are guessing.
