Terms of use

Last updated 23 October 2026. Please read these before playing — they’re short.

1. The service

WorldSnipe is a free online geography game operated by WorldSnipe. By using the website you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

2. Fair use

  • Don’t attempt to disrupt the service, scrape it, overload it, or access data that isn’t yours.
  • Don’t use automated tools to play, manipulate scores or challenges, or impersonate other players.
  • Display names must not be offensive, hateful, sexual or impersonate someone else. We may remove names or challenges that break these rules.

3. Content and licences

Street-level photos are published on Wikimedia Commons by their authors under open licences (mostly CC BY-SA 4.0). Each photo remains the work of its author and is credited in the game and on the credits page. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. The WorldSnipe name, logo, code and design belong to their owner and may not be copied without permission.

If you record or stream gameplay, you’re welcome to — please keep the photo credits visible or include them in your description, as the photo licences require.

4. Accounts

Accounts are optional. You are responsible for keeping your passkey and recovery codes safe. You can delete your account at any time.

5. Advertising

The game is free and may be supported by ads shown between games. Ad blockers are your choice; the core game always works without paying.

WorldSnipe does not sell anything at the moment. If a paid plan is introduced, these terms will be updated before it goes on sale.

7. No warranty

The game is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. Locations, names and maps come from open data sources and may contain mistakes. We may change, pause or discontinue any feature at any time.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, WorldSnipe is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; the date above will change when we do. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
